Positive Behaviour Support
Positive behaviour support (PBS) is internationally recognised as best practice in the support of children and adults whose behaviour causes concern for those responsible for their care, education or welfare. At the heart of the PBS approach is the functional assessment. This assessment seeks to identify the needs which are being met by the concerning behaviour i.e. the message behind the behaviour. Once these needs have been identified, interventions are developed with the individual and those supporting them. The PBS Service, including Trasna Training Service, delivers PBS through consultation and training with families and staff. Interventions seek to increase the quality of life of the person at the centre of the plan and those around them.
